Battle Creek - The Battle Creek Way

One of CBS’ mid-season replacements, Battle Creek is your basic odd couple pairing police drama setting the gruff old-school Detective Russ Andrew (Dean Winters), the top cop in the tragically underfunded Battle Creek Police Department, with hot shot FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Tad Hamilton) reassigned to a new branch office across the hall from the police department (for reasons suggested but not fully explained). The first case Russ and Milton are thrown together on is a rare double-homicide for the city involving a pair of low-level drug dealers.

After another couple’s session McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan) are forced to spend several days together on the stakeout of a woman (Jessica Lowndes) who helped rob a jewelry store. Although she attempted to kill her partner to keep the diamonds for herself, Five-0 is far more interested in the gunman from the robbery who decided to kill a former member of the local police. Using the suspect as bait the pair wait it out hoping her former partner, properly motivated after being shot, will show up for retaliation. The Big Bang Theory - The Anxiety Optimization

Three stories are at play in “The Anxiety Optimization.” Stuck at the airport with Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Howard (Simon Helberg) freaks out after realizing the airline has lost his suitcase containing his mother’s ashes. To disprove a psychological study suggesting it can make two people fall in love Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) spend the evening together answering a list of personal questions. With their friends busy Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Amy (Mayim Bialik), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), and Emily (Laura Spencer) spend the night at a puzzle room where the scientists pay big bucks for the opportunity to think their way out of a lab with a zombie (which proves far easier than they expected).

Backstrom - Ancient, Chinese, Secret

The murder of a psychic in Chinatown forces Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) to question several other psychics in the area including a young man who offers fortunes to each member of the team that reveal secrets and possible futures for each of them. In terms of ongoing storylines the big takeaway from “Ancient, Chinese, Secret” is the reveal of the burgeoning romantic relationship between Niedermayer (Kristoffer Polaha) and Nadia (Beatrice Rosen), which seems to come out of nowhere, as well as some foreshadowing about Nadia’s past which will likely be further explored over the remainder of the season.
