Star Trek: Prodigy - Lost and Found

The two-part opener of Star Trek: Prodigy drops us into a mining colony somewhere outside of Federation space in the Delta Quadrant where we meet the cocky Dal R’El (Brett Gray) who along with the oversized Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui) will discover a way off the asteroid in a Starfleet vessel buried under a large deposit of the expensive crystals the group are forced to mine. Joining them in their escape are the argumentative Jankom Pog (Jason Mantzoukas), Zero (Angus Imrie) an energy being within a robotic exoskeleton, the gelatinous Murf (Dee Bradley Baker), along with the facility commander’s daughter Gwyn (Ella Purnell) who they kidnap helping to facilitate their escape.

Batman: Caped Crusader - And Be A Villain

The second episode of Batman: Caped Crusader starts when the actress Bruce Wayne (Hamish Linklater) is dating goes missing after their night out together. Batman’s investigation leads him into a swordfight on the set (in proper Errol Flynn style). The fight’s end leads our detective to uncover the bodies of a producer and co-star of the film who somehow Montoya (Michelle C. Bonilla) talked with after he was already dead (we also get an early scene where Montoya asks Bruce questions as well, seeing her appear multiple times over the course of the investigation).

Exploding Kittens - Tartar Recall

After a much shorter intro to how Beelzebub ended up on Earth in the form of Devilcat (Sasheer Zamata), “Tartar Recall” gives us the battle between Godcat (Tom Ellis) and Devilcat on Earth, complicated by the cuddly and furry frames. The battle, and unexpected bonding between the two attempting to research Armageddon through the oeuvre of Bruce Willis, is quite fun. The human story which bleeds over into the battle between the cats involves Marv’s (Mark Proksch) attempt to put on a play in the story by his daughter Greta (Ally Maki) unionizing the workers into demanding minimal rights.

Wizards of Waverly Place - I Almost Drowned in a Chocolate Fountain

Wayback Wednesday takes us back to a family of wizards living in Waverly Place. Following the formulaic setup of one of the Russo children using magic for their own gain leading to unintended consequences, “I Almost Drowned in a Chocolate Fountain” is pure sitcom nonsense that nevertheless delivers some fun along the way. The premise of the episode is fueled by Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin) being at odds with their sister and taking some retaliatory action against Alex (Selena Gomez) after she uses a Pocket Elf to cheat on her Spanish test.
