After stopping for some flashbacks with the young hero Prion training with Batman, Black Canary, and Green Arrow, Detective Comics #1109 picks up the thread from the last issue’s cliffhanger ending with Green Arrow saving himself after being thrown off a skyscraper by a deceptively skilled girl (who apparently is also Prion and works for Prion?). Oliver’s actions to save himself are narrated by Batman who, after managing to pull him to safely, the archer finds waiting for him and willing to help “if necessary.”
Fun stuff that also leads us to the girl proving to be more skilled that Batman realizes either, getting the jump on him before Arrow makes the save. These sequences tie back into the flashbacks suggesting this girl has some kind of connection and skills to the heroes’ fallen friend and that Prion may be some sort of shadowy organization training (creating?) these young soldiers. But why? And why do Prion’s old friends need to die?
