G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #280

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #280 comic reviewThe final issue of the one-off “Untold Tales” stories turns its attention to from the Joes to Cobra. The issue starts with Wild Weasel and the Baroness crash landing a severely damaged Rattler prior to the Baroness heading off to Paris on her next assignment. The mission is to kidnap the Borovian Prime Minister in order to make him reconsider cutting off his country’s association with Cobra. Things are complicated by Major Bludd planning a triple cross hoping to kill the target and cash a payday from multiple angles.

Although we don’t get H.I.S.S. Tanks, the issue does provide several notable Cobra cameos in the Rattler, Night Raven, and the Stinger along with Techno-Vipers (who save Wild Weasel and the Baroness from the burning wreckage). We also get plenty of action as Cobra fights Cobra when the Baroness and Bludd blow up city streets all over Paris over the life of the visiting dignitary. It’s an interesting concept that makes Baroness the hero of the story, saving the man’s life from Bludd and his enemies if only so Cobra can make further use of him.
