Despite the title, G’nort’s Swimsuit Edition is not a collection of G’nort in swimwear (although the Green Lantern from the planet G’newt is the centerfold for the issue). The one-shot is made up of mostly art from various artists giving us a wide assortment of DC heroes and villains in beach and swimsuit poses. Attempting to add a bit more substances, two short stories are thrown in as well.
“Baewatch” features the unusual Birds of Prey grouping of Black Canary, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Huntress, and Vixen whose beach day is interrupted by the Penguin and his minions who attempt to blow up an underwater oil pipeline. The second story, “Out There,” has Apollo and Midnighter‘s beach day interrupted when a ship containing the Brain is attacked by Mallah looking to reunite with his soulmate. Both fit the theme of the issue, but neither overshadows the various art which takes up the majority of the comic.
