Finding themselves somehow transported to Mediaeval Turkey, Hellboy and Anastacia look into the history of the shadow puppet theater and the characters of Karagöz and Hacivat, who, if the legends are true, were wrongly executed and cursed. The comic takes some bizarre turns, including both Hellboy and Anastacia getting transformed into puppets for several panels. While the adventure is hit-and-miss, but does show how strong a character Anastacia can be helping to convince the cursed to break their pattern.
Hellboy in Love #4 is much more interesting for the further interaction between Hellboy and Anastacia. Where their attaction in the previous comics had been more flirtatious, this one firmly cements a romantic relationship between the pair has continued to deepen (and become strong enough for Hellboy to turn his back on the B.P.R.D. for several months).
