James Bond 007 #1

James Bond 007 #1

A new volume of James Bond begins here. Kicking off the new series from writer Garth Ennis and artist Rapha Lobosco we start with a brutal James Bond killing off an entire crime family for good measure and wrapping up his latest assignment before returning to England to learn what new trouble MI6 has found for their most famous agent. This one involves water. No, really.

An incomplete Soviet experiment of weaponized water finished by MI6 techs decades later has been stolen and it’s up to Bond to get it back. With the idea of exploding insta-freeze water and a high, and bloody, body count (Bond kills at least a dozen people in this issue) James Bond 007 #1 is a bit of an odd mix of humor and action. That said, it’s a strong enough first issue that I’m curious to see where Bond’s visit with a retired 00, and the failed attempt on their lives, leads him next.
