A new volume of Red Sonja begins here in Vestfold with where the brutal High Priest Thord Varg has taken control following the death of the king. Although the narration from writer Torunn Grønbekk suggests he has no real interest in ruling this particular kingdom, he also has no problem sacrifice babies to the town’s flame and rousing the crowds with speeches of victory over their enemies.
Elsewhere, Red Sonja is on the run wrongly accused of the murder of Lady Alaberta. After a brief stop to enlist the help of an old acquaintance to help clear her name, Sonja flees further across the realm but soon discovers evil is following her as a tavern full of boisterous drunks become bewitched into attacking the She-Devil with a Sword. Although not quite obvious yet how, the two stories are obviously connected. Now Sonja just needs to stay alive and keep on her journey to find find some answers to Varg’s evil and that which follows her.
