Staying with stories of Lando Calrissian, Star Wars Saturday takes a look back at Lando’s return to Cloud City. Published one year after The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars #56 features Lando’s return to the all but abandoned mining colony on Bespin. The only life he finds are his old friend Lobot half out of his mind and a group of Imperials led by the duplicitous Hugo Treece who are struggling in ridding the city of bombs left by the Ugnaughts (who apparently didn’t take kindly to Imperial rule).
There’s some fun stuff in this classic comic hitting shelves a couple of years before The Return of the Jedi. We get to see Lando as a bit of a swashbuckler in attacking some of the Stormtroopers and use his wits to save his friend and help save the city from the bombs. Unfortunately, things don’t end well for our scoundrel who is immediately betrayed by Treece after the last bomb is defused and finds himself hurtling to the center of the gas giant without a parachute just as the comic ends.
