An interlude for the ongoing The Human Target twelve-issue maxi-series, the Tales of the Human Target one-shot gives us a look at three members of the Justice League and their separate attempts to do the right thing, not realizing the person that each was dealing with was the Human Target Christopher Chance.
Taking place just before the events of the series, the stories get tied together at the end as Booster Gold discovers the writer he was saving was Chance attempting to get publicly killed. The same is true of the photographer who Fire refused to leave. As for Gardner, he just wanted to beat up some asshole who had pissed him off. It’s in the reveal of his identity in each separate story that ties them all back together to a single character looking for insight on the man prior to their first meeting.
