- Title: The Authority #2
- Comic Vine: link
- Writer: Warren Ellis
- Artist: Bryan Hitch

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to a higher Authority. The Authority #3 acts as a bit of a transitionary issue with our heroes licking their wounds following the attacks by the Children of Kaizen Gamorra and discovering where they plan to attack next. Spent mostly onboard the Carrier, the issue works on building the team dynamic and explaining a bit about how the Carrier works as the team plans to stop from the next attack on Los Angeles.
The issue ends on a cliffhanger with the attack of Los Angeles about to begin leaving the fourth issue of the series to wrap-up the first of its three arcs. It’s a bit of a talky middle issue with some uncomfortable moments featuring the problematic racist caricature of Kaizen Gamorra maniacally threatening to leave his mark upon the world (literally). Let’s just say the objectionable character hasn’t aged any better over the last 30 years. If the action is light, don’t worry, as there’s still plenty of time for violence headed in The Authority #4 in which Jenny Sparks and her team will teach Gamorra and the world what it means to deal with a higher authority and Midnighter will be given perhaps the most memorable moment of his entire career.
