The Flash #150

Wayback Wednesday takes us back to another classic adventure of the Scarlet Speedster. Assigned by the department to watch over the Maharanee of Jodapur, Barry Allen escorts her to a ball (to the dismay of Iris) where Captain Cold falls for both the visiting dignitary and her jewels.

Cold uses his Cold Gun for a variety of tricks including stealing the jewels, impersonating Maharanee’s escort for the evening, and creating various distractions in an attempt to woo her, and various obstacles to stop the Flash.

The comic’s backup story features an unexpected result of Barry pushing his super-speed where, for a time, he can hear the thoughts of nearby criminals which also, a bit confusingly, gives the power of telekinesis to the criminals he captures (before the Flash reverses the cause of the new powers resetting things back to normal).

Both stories are a bit goofy, but there’s some fun classic Captain Cold moments in the main story, and the unusual aspect of the backup tale is intriguing (if ultimately not successful).
