After their ups and downs in Europe in The Rocketeer: The Great Race, Cliff and Betty have returned home. For Betty her career is on the rise with a role in a major motion picture. Cliff returns to piloting but misses his days as the Rocketeer which, given the state of the jet pack at the end of the last mini-series, appear to be finished for the time being. Some good advice from Peevy leads Cliff to embrace the new life that has opened before them. However, things are about to change.
The first issue of the new mini-series resets events with the anxious Cliff, the thriving Betty, and the reliable Peevy who is kidnapped at the end of the issue by a squad of Nazi Rocketeers hoping the engineer can help them solve their problem with the jet packs. Even with a damaged pack of his own, I’m guessing Cliff won’t hesitate to jump to the rescue once he learns of Peevy’s fate leading to the return of the Rocketeer despite finally accepting his retirment from the role by the end of this issue.
