Picking up 2.8 minutes after the Second Season finale, the main focus of “Heaven Just Got a Little Bit Smoother” is to cover up what happened at Max Rager and have the characters deal with the new status quo of knowing there’s a new player in town in the private military company full of zombies. There’s no murder of the week to solve here, as the show deals with the fallout of last season and sets up major arcs for this year. For Ravi (Rahul Kohli) this means working on a new cure for the unintended side-effects of his old cure. For Blaine (David Anders) this means beginning to act a bit more like his old self, while still be not quite sure who that was. For Major (Robert Buckley), that means struggling to live in a world where everyone sees him as the Chaos Killer.

The latest Hellboy-adjacent mini-series continues here with a longer look at the alien visitor sent to destroy Hellboy as a child and instead chooses to watch from afar while the demonic creature destined to destroy the world develops into a hero. We get panels of Hellboy’s heroics in various times here and there, but it’s the Visitor who is the real focus of this issue.
Although he has mixed emotions about humanity, the Visitor decides to take a wife and build out a life for himself as he watches time pass and Hellboy grow into the type of man the alien hoped he could become. The subplot fleshes out the character more than I expected as it appears our watcher is spending equal time watching both Hellboy and humanity. While the later has disappointed him from time to time, with the mini-series now into the 1960s, our visitor hasn’t seen any signs of the creature his people expect to destroy the world.

While Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) attempt to cheer up Emma (Jennifer Morrison), who wrongly believes her fiance fled Storybooke of his own free will, Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) finds himself trapped in the Enchanted Forest aboard the Nautilus. Hook won’t find his way home by the end of this episode, but his attempt to do so will provide some closure for other characters in an episode that offers the return of several familiar faces. With the help of both Hook and Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Jasmine (Karen David) and Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) will face off against Jafar (Oded Fehr) one final time and the princess will save Agrabah.

Infamous Iron Man #6

While Infamous Iron Man #6 doesn’t attempt to explain the bizarre reveal that Cynthia von Doom is alive, and apparently involved with Reed Richards, the comic series’ latest issue does offer a glimpse into the past of Doom, Richards, and Ben Grimm. Given the unburdened character striving for redemption we’ve seen in action over the past few issues, this is a sobering reminder of who Doom used to be.
Following the trend of the comic so far, we see Doom pay a visit to a former ally in the Wizard. His attempt to take the villain down also brings in S.H.I.E.L.D. and Sharon Cater (who fares no better than Maria Hill did in stopping Victor von Doom).
