The Blacklist: Redemption - Hostages TV review

Two big secrets are revealed in the penultimate episode of The Blacklist: Redemption. First, Scottie (Famke Janssen) discovers that Tom (Ryan Eggold) is the inside man working for her not-so-dead husband Howard (Terry O’Quinn). Second, to prevent Scottie from killing Tom, Howard is forced to reveal their familial relationship to the man who calls himself Tom Keen. As for just what this means for Scottie’s larger plans, Howard’s conspiracy theories, and the future of Tom, it will all likely be determined in next week’s finale where apparently more of the The Blacklist cast will finally make an appearance.

This short trailer focuses on the boy’s dog Dante. Benjamin Bratt and Gael García Bernal also star. Coco opens in theaters on November 22nd.

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #24 comic reviewScooby-Doo! Team-Up #24 offers a couple of recognizable guest-stars while also pulling in some of the DCU’s more obscure characters when Mystery, Inc. gets a visit from the Martian Manhunter. Someone is impersonating the hero, making it look as if J’onn is advocating for all the aliens on Earth to rise up and take over the world. Pursued by a secret government agency, the Martian Manhunter asks Scooby-Doo and the gang for help in protect himself, Starfire, Jemm, Starman (no, the other one), and Ultra.

While letting Shaggy and Scooby be fearful of the aliens in their midst, the comic is actually a nice metaphor for refusing to believe those different from you are dangerous only because someone in government says they are. Political commentary isn’t something you’d expect from a Scooby-Doo comic, but I’m guessing writer Sholly Fisch had a specific target in mind.

Legion - Chapter 8 television review

With the final episode of the show’s First Season, Legion wraps up David‘s (Dan Stevens) internal battle with the Shadow King (Quinton Boisclair) and also returns a familiar face from early in the series. I was more than a little surprised to see how much time was given to Hamish Linklater‘s character to open this episode. We see his home life, his recovery, his thirst for revenge, and his front-row seat from David’s battle for control of his mind. After David takes care of the first wave of their soldiers without breaking a sweat, Division 3 spends spends most of the episode as passive spectators, unsure what exactly is happening. In many ways they are the stand-in for the audience.
