“To know is one thing, but to believe is completely different.”

The 2022 Swedish sci-fi film released in America for the first time asks questions about whether or not we are alone in the universe, but even more so it explores how we treat those who dare raise the question. The film has it where it counts exploring both the intellectual curiosity and emotional need of its characters as they search for the answer of what’s really out there.

Doctor Who – Lucky Day

  • Title: Doctor Who – Lucky Day

One of the concepts Doctor Who has explored over the years, with select companions, is what happens to those people after they leave and attempt to go back to a normal life. With The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) still stuck unable to reach the present, “Lucky Day” instead gives us a Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) episode that isn’t what it initially appears. The first-half of the episode deals with Ruby attempting to move on from her time-traveling adventures and beginning a hopeful relationship with Conrad (Jonah Hauer-King) who it turns out also had a short encounter with The Doctor as a child and is not what it seems.

Secret Six #3

The third issue of the series pretty much follows the same pattern we’ve seen over the course of the first couple of issues with the primary focus being on Jon Kent (feeling out of place), Gossamer (feeling conflicted), and Dreamer (feeling murderous and having her motivations and actions questioned), although we do get more of Deadshot and Catman here (albeit out of costume for the most part as the entire group goes undercover at a club looking for a new lead to the missing Amanda Waller. It feels very much like a middle issue of a larger issue treading water until the big reveal.

This is  bad. Inoffensive, but bad. Geared towards younger audiences, and fans of the game which has been around since 2011, A Minecraft Movie is a train wreck of a film that other than it’s design has very little going for it. The story involves people finding their way into this alternate dimension where you can build basically any squarish item you can imagine. We start we Steve (Jack Black) who is the first to find the realm but unintentionally puts it in danger from the equivalent of a failed America’s Got Talent contestant turned evil queen.

An approvement over the original, Final Destination 2 brings back the same concept with a group of people avoiding death due to the premonition of one character. However, they are continued to be stalked by Death (who never takes physical form but attacks by putting complex sequences of events in motion) throughout the film one by one. As with the original, characters attempt to read the signs as to who is next on the hitlist and avoid their spot in line.
