Lucifer - Favorite Son

Detective Decker‘s (Lauren German) investigation into the theft of a cargo container holds little interest for Lucifer (Tom Ellis) until he discovers it is his property which has gone missing. While evading questions about what was stolen (the truth of which we will only learn in the final scene where the container, but not its precious cargo, is recovered), Lucifer begins his first case as an official consultant for the LAPD. The mystery of Lucifer’s “stuff” is well-handled, as is his growing unease and the return of a more scary and vengeful Devil over the course of the investigation.

Castle - And Justice for All

Miscommunication proves to be an issue when solving the case of of a murdered former El Salvador police officer and current English as a Second Language student whose body was thrown into a tank of deadly snakes after his murder. By posing as a French-Canadian student Castle (Nathan Fillion) learns the victim was helping the other students in the class with various problems, one of which may have gotten him killed. Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) stumble into a Federal Investigation while Vikram (Sunkrish Bala) uncovers a judge (Grainger Hines) extorting immigrants revealing the motive for the murder.

Green Lantern #49There’s an interesting idea at the heart of Green Lantern #49, unfortunately there’s also several head-scratching moments that distract what should be a strong issue leading up to the big throwdown between Green Lantern and Parallax next month.

Sonar has apparently gotten the entire world to cower in fear while the United Nation debates giving into the super-villain’s demands (and apparently every other hero on the planet Earth has taken the day off). Guessing correctly about the madman’s plans for the ambassadors, Hal is able to step in and prevent a blood bath in the U.N., although the villain escapes leaving the story unfinished.
