“High Noon” brings several storylines to a head as the unrelated events of an unknown assailant shooting at Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez), which the Native American quickly blames on the local sheriff, and Cady (Cassidy Freeman) accepting a job at a local law firm will begin the dominoes tumbling down in a series of events that will not only allow Walt (Robert Taylor) to solve Branch‘s (Bailey Chase) murder but also face off against the man who order the murder of Longmire’s wife. While bringing back Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), and eventually intertwining her into the ongoing Hydra subplot, the main focus of “Purpose in the Machine” deals with the investigation into the mysterious monolith and a discovery by Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) which gives the team hope of finding the missing Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). The storyline brings back Peter MacNicol to reprise his role as former Asgardian Berserker Elliot Randolph who helps the team relocate the monolith to a dusty castle where, thanks to the help of Daisy (Chloe Bennet), the portal is opened once more.

What the latest episode has going for it is Castle and Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) what it lacks are enough moments of husband and wife working together.
