Obviously attempting to take advantage of the events of Captain America: Brave New World (despite a mixed critical and fan reaction) as well as laying foundation to rebuild Doctor Doom as a major villain in the Marvel Universe leading into Avengers: Doomsday next year, Red Hulk #1 is more about IP and cross-marketing than interesting storytelling.

Arresting a man (John Ales) involved in child trafficking, Will (Ramón Rodríguez) and the GBI with the help of Marion (Gina Rodriguez) work to find the missing girl before she disappears forever. The ticking clock adds tension, as does Will’s guilt over not acting sooner and discovering the girl’s abduction too late. The major piece of the interrogation involves a bit of deception by Faith (Iantha Richardson) and the group into giving the man the immunity asked for, but not quite when or how he expected. While being helpful in the case to successfully trick the suspect, Marion plays a big role. However, the show doesn’t gloss over her recent trauma and incorporates that into the ongoing story.

“The Unicorn Unleashed” gets a bit obscure in tapping and old Iron Man villain and repackaging it as a member of the crew we saw Spider-Man (Hudson Thames) take down in the previous episode who acquires the helmet from Doc Ock‘s () black market. Playing on the cliffhanger of Harry (Zeno Robinson) learning Peter’s secret identity, he becomes Spider-Man’s tech support which builds a friendship Peter than struggles to bring over into his real life to the consternation of Nico (Grace Song).
