I like Daisy Ridley. I like Die Hard. So a Die-Hard-esque film starring Daisy Ridley sounded like fun. While there is some eventual fun in Cleaner, which stars Ridley as a former soldier turned window cleaner who alone can stop a group terrorists taking hostages in a London skyscraper, Cleaner takes its damn sweet time to get there.

The sequel to 2014’s Paddington brings back the cast for another adventure this time swapping out Nicole Kidman for Hugh Grant as the film’s villain. The trope of the obviously innocent hero being convicted for a crime no one believes he committed is one of my least favorite, but Paddington 2 makes it work by tapping into the same earnestness and heartfelt nature of the original film.

“Hitting the Big Time” is really just an excuse to put Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) in a bunch of goofy costumes designed by Norman Osborne (Colman Domingo). While none, but the last (which still looks a bit too Anti-Venom to me), are really on brand or functionally make any sense (other than potentially sell toys), there’s certainly fun to be had with Spidey trying his luck in the various outfits. Eventually the pair settle on a new look for the hero.
