Throughout the season, CBS’ Matlock reboot has played with the idea of Madeline (Kathy Bates) has grown to care for the colleagues she’s working with while secretly spying on them for information related to the death of her daughter. Driven to find the truth, we’ve even seen Maddy close out an episode on the line “we’re not friends.” However, “Friends” showcases how things have changed and how the mock Matlock has come to trust and value Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) as a friend playing into growing friction with Edwin (Sam Anderson) over her priorities which is only further exacerbated over their disagreement on how to handle the bullying of their grandson.

West Coast Avengers #3

West Coast Avengers #3 gives us an explanation for multiple Ultrons (including others we haven’t yet seen) along with the first confrontation from the Ultron prophet and the West Coast Avengers featuring their own Ultron, bringing the two face-to-face. Other than the backstory which adds some context to the current situation, there’s not much of note in the issue as the confrontation ultimately is left unresolved.

In an episode that involves Will (Ramón Rodríguez), Angie (Erika Christensen), Faith (Iantha Richardson) and Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin) all awkwardly trying not to disturb evidence (in the sequence which provides the episode its title), “Floor Is Lava” is most notable for walking Will and Angie through a series of meetings from some awkward on-the-job discussions to a tearful confrontation after hours to an honest break in their relationship that leaves the two firmly separated. Going along with this theme is another appearance of Marion (Gina Rodriguez) confirming her as Will’s new love interest.

Spidey Super Stories #1

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the very first issue of Spidey Super Stories which explored the origins of Spider-Man in the main story, properly introducing him for the new comic with ties to The Electric Company‘s Spider-Man shorts, while also providing some back-up Spidey stories. Skipping over the tragic aspect of Spidey’s origins, the story gives us the spider-bite, nerdy Peter’s lonely existence, the classic scenes of Peter testing out his powers after avoiding a car, and creating the costume and web-shooters to fight crime as Spider-Man. It’s a solid introduction for young readers.
