The first isssue of the new mini-series Spike: Shadow Puppets from IDW Publishing hits the comic stores today (for more comic releases check out our comic rack). The story centers around Spike and Lorne investigating a Japanese kiddie show called “Smile Time” and suggests Angel won’t be the only vampire with a soul to get in touch with his inner-puppet. Hmm, we’re about to talk about comics so it must be Wednesday! Welcome to the RazorFine Comic Rack boys and girls. This movie’s got disaster written all over it. The acting is average, the plot is ridiculous, and the dialogue will have you laughing and groaning. But it does have beautiful, and scantily clad, young actresses, some nice sets and attractive scenery, and some pretty good stunts and wire work. Fans of B-movies, and adolescent teens, might find a film that that can laugh-at and enjoy yourself while doing so. Is it a good film? Not really. Is it a good time? For the right audience, yes it is.
We’ve seen martial arts tournament flicks many times before. Hell, Jean-Claude Van Damme made a career off them. DOA isn’t a great film, in fact in many ways it’s quiet laughable and absurd, but it is an enjoyable experience that knows exactly what it and doesn’t try to be anything more.

Well it seems yet another video game is on its way to the big screen. No, sorry, it’s not Excitebike. Legendary Pictures has optioned the rights to make Diablo into a major motion picture. Yipee. No word yet on what the lead character’s class will be (Necromancer please!). With Legendary Pictures already working on on a World of Warcraft film it seems like the studio is trying to carve out a niche for itself as the new home to continue the legacy of “greatness” in past video game adaptations. Remember Super Mario Bros., Double Dragon, or Doom (I wish I didn’t!). That’s all for now; as always, you’ll know more when we do!

In this sequel to 2003’s Bruce Almighty Steve Carrell returns as Evan Baxter who leaves the anchor desk and moves his family (Lauren Graham, Johnny Simmons, Graham Phillips, Jimmy Bennett) to Washington when he becomes a US Congressman. Things are great until God (Morgan Freeman) comes a’callin commanding Evan to build him an ark, and then things get crazy. John Michael Higgins, John Goodman, and Wanda Sykes also star. Check out the official site. We’ve seen it, and we’ll have the review for you when the film opens everywhere on Friday.
