Throwback Tuesday takes us back 40 years to the days when movie stars attempted to behead each other for a prize. When I think over the Highlander franchise I’ll admit I have more of an appreciation for the TV series that came after the movies which allowed time and space to delve into the long lives of the immortals who swordfight to the death before beheading each other to elaborate pyrotechnic performances and blasts of music from Queen.

Murder Mystery Monday takes us back to the most famous mystery writer of Cabot Cove. In an episode that has a strong Agatha Christie flavor with a group of people trapped together on a private island, and one of them almost certainly the killer, Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) works to uncover the identity of the person who killed their host and friend, artist Diego Santana (Cesar Romero). Playing the role of Jessica’s more official assistant is another of the guests, and also a suspect, Inspector Henry Kyle (Ron Moody).

A braindead action comedy, Playdate stars Kevin James as stay-at-home stepdad Kevin struggling to make a connection with the awkward Lucas (Benjamin Pajak). Enter alpha dude Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and his even more awkward kid CJ (Banks Pierce). In the course of afternoon, Kevin’s interactions with Jeff lead him to be hunted by armed mercenaries and mistaken for a child abductor along with Jeff, who actually is one (hardy har har, ain’t child kidnapping hilarious?).

After last season ended with several core characters in the hospital, the Fourth Season premiere of Will Trent jumps forward five months. Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin) is back at work, although saddled to a new desk assignment, but Amanda (Sonja Sohn) is still recovering from her shooting leaving a temporary replacement in charge who Will (Ramón Rodríguez) will butt heads with while ignoring orders to stay out of the investigation into James Ulster (Greg Germann) escape from prison.

Following the success of The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson turned his attention to bringing another dark fantasy to the big screen. Brian Froud, who provided the conceptual designs for the previous film was tasked with creating creatures for a new world within a labyrinth. And Monty Python’s Terry Jones signed on to write the screenplay based on a story from Henson and Dennis Lee heavily influenced by The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and Maurice Sendak‘s Outside Over There. The film is so closely related to the latter, it nearly prevented Labyrinth‘s release until legal complaints were settled.
