“Double” offers the reveal of Octavian‘s spy within P.Y.R.A.M.I.D. to be Zaid (Xolo Maridueña) and the introduction of a robot that can take the form of any person Cleopatra (Lilimar) knows. The episode is a comedy of errors as it is primarily focused on the robot doppelganger attempting to get Cleo alone while taking on the form of different members of the school, but whose odd behavior only makes Cleo more suspicious that something is wrong with everyone. The reveal of Zaid as a spy has some nuance as we learn he was forced into the role under threats to his family, although there will still be repercussions for his actions.

Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton star as spies and former lovers reunited eight years after a terrorist attack in Vienna. Still with the agency, Henry Pelham (Pine) is tasked with discovering whether or not an inside man helped the terrorists nearly a decade before with the obvious suspects being his former lover and her boss (Jonathan Pryce).  

The film from writer/director Olen Steinhauer attempts to be a slow-burning thriller revealing secrets and twists while poking at old wounds as Pine and Newton hash out past events over dinner. Never as thrilling as it should be, and with an odd choice to jump into extremely jarring close-ups at random intervals, All the Old Knives is really only worth noting for the performances of its two stars, as the plot, despite its attempt at shocking twists, is mainly just an excuse for the two to eat dinner while telling lies and variations of the truth.

Elena Federova’s (Morena Baccarin) machinations grind to a halt as a former CIA black ops agent attacks Fort Totten before Snow White gets around to implement its plans for the last man in the photo connected with the bombing of Federova’s family. Survival, rather than revenge, becomes the theme of the show for an episode. Trouble comes for Sergey (Costa Ronin) and Owen Turner (Kamal Angelo Bolden) in the prison as well when a fire scare leads to a prison riot and an attempt on Sergey’s life that is averted by leaves the pair with a new problem just days before putting their plan in motion.

Kitty Pryde captains a new group of Marauders whose adventures kick off here with the rescue of a new mutant out of control in Wyoming followed by an encounter on Krakoa involving the mystery puzzle box that leads Pryde to Cassandra Nova (Professor X‘s demented twin sister). Despite her concerns, Pryde adds her to the team whose other members include Psylocke, Tempo, Aurora, Akihiro, Lucas Bishop, and Somnus.

Marauders, using the odd reliable X-Men trick of taking a couple beloved characters and filling out a roster with random others, is an odd comic in terms of style with the art bleeding over into anime at times. The results are weird, but still fun. The team’s first mission may be their last as they fly into Shi’ar Galaxy looking for answers about the First Mutants, secrets that apparently the Shi’ar are willing to kill to protect.
