Resurrection of Magneto #2

Resurrection of Magneto #2

Having found Magneto in the weird limbo for mutants, next challenge is to convince him to return to the world of the living. Consumed by his failures over the years, the Magneto she finds a a whiny little bitch who wastes most of the issue refusing her offer of help. For a comic created with the sole purpose of returning Magneto back to the land of the living, Resurrection of Magneto sure is taking its damn sweet time while failing to convince us of anything other than the obvious outcome.

Spider-Man - Return of the Spider Slayer

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the 90s. The show wastes no time in bringing back the Spider Slayers. In an obvious attempt to create (pretty crappy) toys to sell, “Return of the Spider-Slayers” gives us not one, not two, but three different Spider Slayers with the new ones apparently designed off the shittiest run of Transformers ever (they even combine together to… well, do nothing really except make them infinitely easier to beat when stacked on top of each other – even though the bomb’s explosion doesn’t appear to touch the bottom Slayer). In every way, the Slayers are even less impressive a second time around.

Batman #142

Batman #142

For what is supposedly the start of a new arc, I found Batman #142 messy and confusing. Falling back onto DC’s most overused theme, the comic offers us “Year One” of the Joker. Beginning after his swan dive into the chemical vat, the comic picks up with three members of the Red Hood Gang (rather than just one) being exposed to the chemicals. While “Red Hood One” begins his story after being transformed, the other two are similarly changed.

Hazbin Hotel - Overture

What started out as an independent webcomic has now become a full-blown Amazon series. I had a very mixed reaction to the opening episode of the series that centers around Lucifer’s daughter Charlie (Erika Henningsen) and her plan to create a hotel within Hell to redeem sinners allowing them to eventually reach Heaven. I enjoy Charlie, and the look of the episode. The musical numbers were a bit more hit-and-miss for me (although the idea of singing about how glorious Hell is from a certain point of view is humorous).
