The second episode of Baymax! follows the same formula of the first with the personal healthcare companion attempting to help someone who doesn’t initially want Baymax‘s (Scott Adsit) help. This time around it’s elderly Kiko Tanaka (Emily Kuroda) who Baymax attempts to help exercise to help her various ailments and get over her fear of the public pool next door. At first we get the robot’s wackier attempts proving she doesn’t need to be afraid of the water before tricking her into a bit of exercise and leading her into the pool where the truth about her doubts and fears come to the surface. As with “Cass,” Baymax is eventually able to help and leaves another patient better than the robot found them.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. “Angels in the Wings” is an unusual episode as much of the time is set aside for song and dance numbers (which are actually quite good) rather than mystery solving. The Angels are called in to investigate a cursed theater after an actress (Shani Wallis) is almost killed by the latest accident on-stage. While there are subplots offered in terms of her estranged son (Nicolas Beauvy) and her ex-husband’s (Gene Barry) gambling debts and unwillingness to do the show, there’s not much of a mystery and much of the Angels’ investigation takes place off-camera.

“Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach” has the feel of a mix between a classic Star Trek episode (with the captain making sweet, sweet love to an alien woman) and one from Star Trek: The Next Generation (dealing with alien customs in conflict with Starfleet directives and human morality) when Captain Pike (Anson Mount) is reunited with a woman he saved years ago. Saving Alora (Lindy Booth) again leads to problematic discoveries about her idyllic world involving a chosen child (Ian Ho) who is destined to save their world albeit by paying a terrible price which is hidden from Starfleet for most of the episode.
