“Bizarros in a Bizarro World” is a fever dream of an episode as Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) arrives on Bizarro Earth in an attempt to prevent Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt) from merging with her other half. Slowly weaking on the cube world with a red sun, Superman’s mission fails in part when he is betrayed by family as Ally gets exactly what she wants and sends her disciple back to Earth to follow in her footsteps. We get multiple vignettes here exploring the Bizarro version of these characters including a noble Tal-Rho (Adam Rayner) and a murderous Jonathan (Jordan Elsass). The episode ends a cliffhanger threating to turn the Jonathan of Earth into a far more interesting character.

“The Dragon Reborn” introduces the most interesting character of the show’s First Season, who sadly will be dealt with all too soon. Believing himself to be the Dragon reborn into this life, the powerful Logain Ablar (Álvaro Morte) has drawn an army of followers to his side. Captured by the Aes Sedai who are using all their power to keep him caged and hidden from his army, eventually Ablar will break free offering exactly the situation Liandrin Guirale (Kate Fleetwood) giving the more militant member of the group the ability to deliver justice to Ablar in the field rather than return him for trial.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is insane, in mostly good ways. I’m not sure it’s the most Nicolas Cage movie ever, but it’s not from lack of trying. Nicolas Cage stars as himself in a ridiculous adventure comedy that finds the actor during a downturn in his career accepting $1 million to attend a fan’s (Pedro Pascal) birthday party only to become pulled into a kidnapping case by the CIA.

Cage, playing a larger-than-life version of himself selfishly driven to be a movie star at the cost of his marriage to his ex-wife (Sharon Horgan) and his strained relationship with his estranged daughter (Lily Mo Sheen), is terrific here. Pascal is an inspired choice for the super-fan who, despite the warnings from the CIA, quickly becomes Cage’s best-friend as his undercover mission becomes all the more complicated. A celebration of Cage’s career and eccentricities with nods to numerous films, one could argue it’s the most professional fan film ever produced.

The documentary Rookie Season takes us behind-the-scenes of Rebel Rock Racing fighting to establish its prescience on the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. With cameras in the car, on the track, and in the pits, along with behind-the-scenes interviews with drivers and pit crew, director Adrian Bonvento‘s film takes us along for the highs and lows of the team’s first season on the ten-race circuit which began with multiple wrecks to start the season and ends in glory.

The highlights of the film are putting the audience in the car with the driver, especially late during a race in rainy conditions and limited visibility where you get a feel for just how challenging the races are. While I think the documentary could get more in depth with its subjects, there’s certainly enough here to warrant a look for anyone interested in the sport.

Throwback Tuesday takes us to 80s Washington, D.C. and the unusual partnership between a housewife and a spy. After the agency ties the smuggling of weapons to a Washington suburb, Scarecrow (Bruce Boxleitner) and Amanda (Kate Jackson) are sent in undercover to play husband and wife. While the episode starts with the spy turning Amanda away from agency work, hoping to be rid of her, he quicky has to turn on a dime when he’s ordered into the suburbs with the only person who can show him the ropes. And once again, Amanda will prove her worth in helping uncover the truth of another fine mess Scarecrow has gotten them into.
