Here’s the episode where Hit-Monkey discovers the highs and lows of both casinos, which Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) correctly defines as both the happiest and saddest place on Earth, and alcohol as the trail from General Kato leads to an underground casino, bad decisions, too much alcohol, and another trail of bodies. While there’s not much in terms of story development, there is some crazy drunken monkey and some trademark late bloody action.

Hellboy: The Bones of Giants #2

Hellboy: The Bones of Giants continues as Hellboy is visited by Svartalves in the night helping  Professor Edmond Aickman escape. He also brings home a pair of Nidavellim, talks to a chipmunk, and has a conversation with a Valkyrie ghost. Oh, and he’s still kinda possessed by the Norse god Thor. Let’s just say it’s been a weird couple of days for our hero.

What Hellboy knows, thanks to a pair of Nidavellim, is that the professor is responsible for opening a crypt of the Frost Giant Thrym who a new cult hopes to see resurrected. After the stressful night, our intrepid heroes go in search of the missing professor only to discover they may have been to late as the madman may have succeeded in raising a giant from his grave. I don’t think things are going to get any less weird any time soon.

“Legacy” offers one night of romance for Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and the departing Joe (Enver Gjokaj) while offering a case of the week involving the death of a protestor on an uncooperative tech billionaire’s (Rob Benedict) land. Stonewalled by the tycoon and his lawyers, the team investigates the protestor and uncovers an unexpected connection between him and both their suspect and his wife (Jenna Leigh Green). The murder of the week is solid with various B-stories offering peeks into core characters such as Kai (Alex Tarrant) siding with the protestors and a revelation of Lucy‘s (Yasmine Al-Bustami) family wealth. I’d expect to see each of these threads to be developed further, and I’m not so certain we’ve seen the final departure of Captain Joe.
