As teased at the end of last season, Season Five of Only Murders in the Building begins with Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) investigating the death of Lester (Teddy Coluca) which everyone appears to believe was accidental. The trios’ latest case will take them to Staten Island for an unusual meeting with Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni) and her sons in the most unexpected of locations. Leaving that meeting believing there may be a connection between Lester’s untimely end and the disappearance of Sofia’s husband Nicky (Bobby Cannavale who will make his own memorable entrance before the end of the show), a clue will lead Charles and Mabel uncovering a new part of the Arconia in what appears to be a hidden speakeasy.

Taking Perry to the vet creates all kinds of craziness as the platypus works to prevent getting chipped, which gets more complicated after Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) shows up with plans to chip and track his nemesis. Meanwhile, Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (David Errigo Jr.), along with their friends, create a giant pet wash and grooming station, to help the overwhelmed vet office as Candace (Ashley Tisdale) spends time flirting with Jeremy (Mitchel Musso) at Mr. Slushy Dawg missing her chance to catch her brothers in another crazy build that, of course, blows up just before her mother shows up.

The Aristocats

  • Title: The Aristocats

Originally released in 1970, I first saw The Aristocats during one of its re-releases in theaters. The last film to be personally approved by Walt Disney, the last film to be released during co-founder Roy O. Disney‘s tenure as CEO, and notably worked on by five of Disney’s core animators, the film is an interesting mix of classic Disney animation with splashes of French styling and jazz thrown into the mix as well. Much like Disney’s next feature Robin Hood, released three years later, you can feel a change in the studio’s continued direction away (at least temporarily) from the classic princess films that built so much of the magic kingdom.

Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. – Professor Harvey is Gone

In the late 1980s, Hellboy investigates the disappearance of an English professor who went missing after coming in contact with a long lost artifact. Hellboy’s interaction with the small statue sends him out of space and time finding the professor on a small island infested with monsters, talking statues, and a ghost goddess on a throne of skulls with whom the old man has become infatuated by (like so many before him).

The Umbrella Academy – Plan B #2

It’s a brave new world. The Umbrella Academy has fallen with its members indecisive and scattering while the Sparrows have taken center stage forcing a fascist new regime in place even the United States Government is too afraid to oppose. Diego continues in his hero role, although Pogo notes criminals are being taken down faster than the system can hold them (rather than be murdered by Earth’s new heroes). And Five has decided it’s time to start fighting back foreshadowing a showdown (although not giving any clues as to why it would end any differently than the Academy getting wiped out by the Sparrows in their first encounter).
