As the Mule‘s (Pilou Asbæk) influence on Kalgan continues to grow, something which Han Pritcher (Brandon P Bell) gets a glimpse of for himself, “When a Book Finds You” and “The Stress of Her Regard” develop the partnership between Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) and Brother Dawn (Cassian Bilton). Flashbacks explore how their conversations began while the current crisis forces Dawn into a difficult decision heading into a cliffhanger with not one but two Cleons abandoning their posts as Demerzel‘s (Laura Birn) actions to end his his problematic romance to a woman who worships robots which in turn forces Brother Day (Lee Pace) to leave the palace as well. As one heads to the stars to a future he can’t fathom, the other dives deep into the planet in search of  something lost.

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a new Naked Gun movie. The failed 80s TV-show turned successful movie franchise in the late 80s and early 90s gets a refresh with Liam Neeson stepping in as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen‘s character. Like his namesake, Frank is a talented, if problematic, detective for Police Squad. Playing on Neeson’s history with B-move action-thrillers, he slides right into the straight man role of the film in what turns out to be some rather inspired casting.

After a surprising showing in the school’s free-throw contest, Tina (Dan Mintz) begins to feel the pressure of performing in the County Finals in front of a crowd. While exploring Tina’s anxiety, “Don’t Worry, Be Hoopy” also explores the anxiety of both Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) who both give their daughter some questionable advice blaming themselves when Tina is late to show up for the contest (unaware she was so freaked out already she barely paid either of them any mind). While I think the episode may have missed an opportunity to work Louise (Kristen Schaal) and Gene (Eugene Mirman) into a vignette (possibly related to betting on Tina’s performance), the episode offers a nice moral for Tina in overcoming her fears and also reminding us that parents do their best but ultimately its the kid who has to eventually stand up on their own.

Never tell a girl you aren’t serious about the relationship while chained to the bed. Taking place on the first out-of-town trip of Iris (Molly Gordon, who also co-wrote the film) and Isaac (Logan Lerman), four months into their dating, a basic misunderstanding between the two comes to light after a night of kinky sex. Thanks to some bad advice, and some poor Internet research, and fueled by a desperation to prove he doesn’t know what he actually wants, Iris refuses to uncuff Isaac from the bed and attempts to prove that they should stay together. Frustrated and concerned what else an increasingly manic Iris might do, especially after an offhand comment about wanting to stab him, Isaac initially plays along until it becomes obvious that Iris has no intention of letting him go.

Airing in October of 1994, the two-part episode “The Silver Surfer and the Coming of Galactus” stays close to the original story from Fantastic Four #48-50 in which the Watcher (Allan Oppenheimer) warns the Fantastic Four of a coming danger but is unable to stop the Silver Surfer (Robin Sachs) from finding Earth and summoning his master. As in the comic, after an initial skirmish with the Fantastic Four, the Surfer discovers a bit about humanity through his interactions with Alicia Masters (Pauline Lomas) while the Watcher guides Johnny Storm () to the only known weapon in the universe that could turn away Galactus (Tony Jay) and force him to spare Earth.
