Our Throwback Thursday post takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. Drake (Patrick McGoohan) travels to Kashmir following an agent hoping to catch who the man will pass his information. When the contact turns out to be a wealthy Englishwoman (Barbara Shelley), Drake befriends the woman’s husband (Ronald Howard) earning him a dinner invitation in the couple’s mountain home. Although the couple welcomes him with open arms, it soon becomes a question of whether Drake is the predator or the prey.

Justice League - Hearts and Minds television review

Our Throwback Thursday post takes us back to the animated adventures of Justice League. Although I don’t think it was necessarily deliberate, Justice League didn’t paint a very flattering picture of the Green Lantern Corps. In their first appearance, the Corps abandoned John Stewart (Phil LaMarr) when their fellow Lantern is accused of destroying an entire planet in “In Blackest Night.” In the opening scene of “Hearts and Minds” Galius and Arkkis are killed by soldiers (rather easily). There’s also an odd story break where John Stewart’s old flame Katma Tui (Kim Mai Guest) somehow survives the same encounter, escapes without notice, hides her identity as a Green Lantern and joins the villain’s inner circle of priestess concubines. That’s quite a bit to happen completely off-screen without any explanation.

Dungeons & Dragons - The Complete SeriesWhile fighting off a cold, I spent some time looking back at some 80s Saturday morning cartoons. I watched Dungeons & Dragons when it originally aired, but hadn’t given it much thought since. I had picked up the complete set on DVD a few years back and it had just been sitting on my shelf. It seemed like the perfect time to jump back in, and what surprised me the most is how well the cartoon has held up after more than three decades.

The opening sequence to each episode sets up the basic premise of the show: Six adolescents taking a ride on a roller coaster are magically transported to the realm of Dungeons & Dragons where they will spend 27 episodes attempting to find their way home. Armed with magical items that each fit a certain D&D class, the characters are befriended by Dungeon Master (Sidney Miller) who shows up to provide information about their latest quest (often speaking in riddles). Dungeon Master’s advice isn’t always easy to follow, but inevitably the information he provides the group will lead them several small victories (although not the road home).

Charlie's Angels - The Mexican Connection TV review

Today’s Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police detectives turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. Looking into a crashed plane, the Angels take on case involving drug smuggling over the Mexican border and a brewing drug war that brought the plane down. Sabrina (Kate Jackson goes in undercover as a stewardess and Jill (Farrah Fawcett) as the new swim coach for the daughter of local drug lord (Cesare Danova). Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) enters the scene as a schoolteacher on holiday who catches the drug kingpin’s eye enabling all three to insinuate themselves into the man’s life.

Take Two - Shadows of the Past television review

When their new client becomes the latest victim of a serial killer, Sam (Rachel Bilson) and Eddie’s (Eddie Cibrian) case for a missing woman gets more complicated. Over the objections of a cop with grudge (Colin Lawrence), Eddie is allowed limited access to their case. “Shadows of the Past” fills in a few more details of why Eddie’s career as a cop came to an end and grudges on both side that make it hard for him to work with the department. Putting those aside, our plucky detectives find the killer… although the more they dig into the case they more they believe the real killer may still be out there and delivered the LAPD the perfect patsy to close the case prematurely. Solving their original case, and finding the missing woman, leads them to the truth.
