Atlantis - The Marriage of True Minds

Not wasting any time, the latest episode of Atlantis reveals Prince Telemon (Clive Standen) treachery when he delivers Ariadne (Aiysha Hart) and her best troops into a trap laid by Pasiphae (Sarah Parish) and the Colcheans. Overwhelmed by the enemies forces, Jason, Ariadne, Pythagoras (Robert Emms), Hercules (Mark Addy), and a wounded Dion (Vincent Regan as one of the show’s more under-utilized supporting characters in his final appearance) make it to safety.

Secret Six #1

Secret Six #1Spring of 1980. That’s the first time I picked up a comic book, and the first Batman story I ever read was Batman #323 which featured both Batman and Catwoman being bested by lesser-known villain known as Catman. Needless to say I was an immediate fan. Sadly, the following two decades weren’t kind to the character who resurfaced in 2005 as the break-out star of DC’s Villains United giving birth to the first iteration of the Secret Six.

With the new Secret Six #1 Gail Simone returns to the comic (along with her run on the original Birds of Prey) which made me a lifelong fan of her work, albeit through the craptastic lens of DC’s New 52 filter. Playing on similar themes of the Six being brought together and controlled by an unknown master called Mockingbird, Secret Six #1 opens with Catman being kidnapped and locked-up with a group of five others and tortured by a mysterious voice who wants answers to a question that has yet to be asked.

The first issue doesn’t sell me immediately on the series, but (unlike so much of the New 52) doesn’t immediately turn me off of beloved characters, either.

The Mentalist - The Graybar Hotel

In order to help catch a high-end automobile smuggler who the CIA believe may have ties to terrorists Lisbon (Robin Tunney) goes undercover at a women’s prison as the new roommate of the smuggler’s girlfriend (Brit Morgan). The structure of the episode means Tunney gets the majority of the screentime here, although Simon Baker finds a way to steal a few scenes when Jane’s ingenius plan of a prison escape goes awry and leaves Lisbon without any FBI support.

The Librarians - And the Crown of King Arthur

Based on the series of TV-movies starring Noah Wyle as the latest in the line of secret protectors tasked with keeping potentially dangerous magical artifacts out of the hands of those who would abuse their powers comes TNT’s new drama The Librarians. Premiering ten years ago The Librarian: Quest for the Spear introduced Flynn Carsen (Wyle) and the world of the Library and I’m a little surprised it has taken a decade for TNT to decide to broaden the scope of the franchise with an ongoing series (although it’s influences can certainly be felt in shows like Warehouse 13).

Batman - A Riddle A Day Keeps The Riddler Away

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we continue to look back at the more memorable moments of the 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. The Riddler (Frank Gorshin) returns to Gotham to cause more mischief by stealing the diamond tiara of the recently crowned Queen of Beauty during the Miss Galaxy Pageant and kidnapping a visiting dignitary (Reginald Denny) while dropping clues for Batman and Robin as to the villain’s real endgame.
