Hawaii Five-0 – The Complete Fourth Season

Hawaii Five-0 - The Complete Fourth SeasonThe Fourth Season of Hawaii Five-0 would see some change, most notably the introductions of Chi McBride as the head of the Hawaii Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team and pain in McGarrett‘s (Alex O’Loughlin) butt and Jorge Garcia as a conspiracy nut who helps 5-0 on a handful of cases, the departure of Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth), and a subplot involving Kono (Grace Park) going into hiding (itself designed to hide Park’s pregnancy and absence from a large portion of the season).

Highlights from the season include Grover’s daughter being kidnapped, a 70 year-old murder during Japanese interment on the island, the discovery of an Al-Qaeda cell on the island, McGarrett and Grover hunting Grover’s old friend in the jungle, Danny (Scott Caan) and McGarrett getting trapped in the rubble of an explosion, murder at Chin-Ho‘s (Daniel Dae Kim) high school reunion, Chinese spies after a crashed satellite, Chin-Ho at the mercy of a serial killer, the murder of a secret service agent, a complicated bank heist planned by a young hacker (Nick Jonas), and the murder of Catherine’s partner.

Batman Beyond Universe #14

Batman Beyond Universe #14Wrapping up the return of the Phantasm who attempts to prevent Terry Ginnis from learning that his father’s true killer is still at large (and tempting him into seeking vengeance), Batman Beyond Universe #14 offers more flashbacks to the events which splintered the Bat-Family and ended any chance of Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon‘s happily ever after.

Although not as strong as the previous month’s set-up, and with several of the final pages setting up future stories I have little to no interest in, Batman Beyond Universe #14 should still be worth a look for fans of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond and curious to see a pivotal moment in the Terry/Bruce relationship unfold.

Filled with plenty of action, hard choices, and Bruce Wayne loosing another adopted son and apprentice, the latest issue of Batman Beyond Universe is worth picking up even for those (like me) who may not stick around to see how the fallout between Bruce and Terry is finally resolved. Worth a look.

Beware the Batman - Hero

Tired of Batman (Anthony Ruivivar) making him look like a fool, and with his chances at winning the upcoming mayoral race dwindling, Harvey Dent (Christopher McDonald) accepts Anarky’s (Wallace Langham) offer of partnership and brings in a vigilante of his own to take the Dark Knight Detective down. Of course that’s where things start going wrong for the District Attorney.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Heavy is the Head

Wrapping up the two-episode arc guest-starring Brian Patrick Wade as the Absorbing Man, Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) deals with the death of two members of his increasingly small fighting force and the capture of a third mercenary whose knowledge of the operation could bring what’s left of S.H.I.E.L.D. tumbling down. With May (Ming-Na Wen) on Creel’s tail, the team also hopes to retrieve the 084 (although they aren’t the only ones after the device).
