Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man: Chameleon Conspiracy offers an over-sized conclusion to the Chameleon Conspiracy which involves armies of Chameleons and Jack O’Lanterns fighting on a secret space station which will crash into Earth before the end of the issue. Also onboard are Foreigner and Chance hoping to get their hands on the Catalyst (technology which can predict the future) and its creator. Got all that? Needless to say this isn’t the best place to jump into the story.

We start out with the reveal that Ned Leeds is alive (and still not the Hobgoblin). Um, okay? So is Uncle Ben returning next issue? We also get Teresa Parker fighting alongside Spider-Man (although she does get tempted by the Chameleon at a crucial moment).

Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade #4 isn’t a great issue for our heroes. Dane Whitman finds himself haunted by visions shown to him by the Ebony Chalice and finishes the issue slowing bleeding out on the floor. Jackie Chopra dies a rather gruesome death. And Elsa Bloodstone abandons the fight when Mordred buys her off with the bobble she came for.

Speaking of Mordred, his plan comes together quite nicely as he captures the Ebony Blade and then smelts some of the other Ebony items into an Ebony Crown as he reveals his plans to assume the throne his father kept from him.

A much-needed supply run forces the Bad Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) to Pantora to restock and give Tech time to scramble the Havoc Marauder‘s signature. The action of the episode comes from the appearance of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) who’s showing up everywhere these days. Befriending the lost Omega (Michelle Ang) who got separated from Hunter, the bounty hunter nearly makes off with the clone. The episode is really only notable for introducing Fennec into her fourth Star Wars property (not to mention books and comics) while continuing to foreshadow something special about this young clone.

The movie Marvel Studios didn’t want to make finally sees the light of day. Despite being the first female hero introduced in the MCU, Marvel seemed to have no interest in giving Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) her own film until the financial success of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel forced their hand.

First, let me say that I’m glad we get a Black Widow movie. The character rocks, Johansson is brought back with her deadpan wisecracks, and it’s thoroughly, unapologetically, over-the-top during its climactic bat-shit-crazy battle sequences.

The oversized Spawn’s Universe #1 creates a moment of change in the battle of Heaven versus Hell as Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and Cogliostro are captured by a new villain calling himself the Disruptor who has plans for the trio and is using leftover power from the Omega Spawn to wreak havoc across the world.

For someone who remembers the release of Spawn #1 but hasn’t been a regular reader of the title for decades, Spawn’s Universe #1 feels a bit unwieldy. It’s large, boasts of importance, and even offer more Spawns (both in the main storyline and back-up stories). It also requires you to go back and read some recent Spawn comics to make sense of just what the hell is going on here (something 66 pages overflowing with narration should help alleviate).
