The Freemaker Adventures - The Embersteel Blade

Needing specific hard-to-come-by parts to create Rowan‘s (Nicolas Cantu) vision of the Arrowhead, the Freemakers go undercover at an Imperial auction hoping to use the limited Rebel credits to get their hands on an old shuttle. When and over-zealous Zander (Eugene Byrd) bets on the wrong ship and familiar faces like Graballa, Wick Cooper, and others show up at the auction things get complicated – even more so when Graballa kidnaps Kordi (Vanessa Lengies) believing her to be a princess he can ransom to pay for his resort.

Shadowhunters - Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen TV review

“Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen” pushes events forward to the show’s looming season finale in two weeks. First, after an attack on Max (Jack Fulton), Jonathan (Will Tudor) is forced to push up his timetable and attempt to steal the Mortal Mirror before they young boy can awake. Second, despite the recent turmoil, the return of a rival, and the drama over a mundane being turned into a wolf, Luke (Isaiah Mustafa) reasserts his dominance over the pack (although tipping off his partner about the dark world underneath the surface). And last, given an ultimatum by the Seelie Queen (Lola Flanery), Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) must balance his feelings for Alec (Matthew Daddario) against doing what is best for the Downworlders.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #25

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #25 comic reviewOne step forward, ten steps back. I have to say I’m disappointed in the outcome of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #25. While the over-sized issue itself is fine, although far from great, the build-up to a new day for the Green Lantern Corps working alongside the Sinestro Corps is wasted here returning everything to the status quo.

Great, after all that groundwork we’re thrown back into the rut that Green Lantern comics have been stuck in for the better part of decade. The idea of the unification of the two groups brought something fresh to the comic for the first time in a good long while by having the groups work together to patrol the galaxy. Sigh.

Hooten & the Lady - Egypt television review

The third episode of Hooten & the Lady is a little more Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as Lady Alex Lindo-Parker (Ophelia Lovibond) and Ulysses Hooten (Michael Landes) work together in Egypt to find the long-lost tomb of Alexander the Great. Opposing them is a secret sect of Greek warriors with their own plans for the remains of Alexander. There’s tombs to be unearthed, centuries-old puzzles to solve, and once again a choice for Hooten and Alex about whether or not to allow such potentially-dangerous artifacts into the world.

Hooten & the Lady - Rome TV review

British Museum curator Lady Alex Lindo-Parker (Ophelia Lovibond) crosses paths with treasure hunter Ulysses Hooten (Michael Landes) in Rome where she is attempting to excavate a site for the museum and spend some pre-wedding time with her mother (Jane Seymour) but soon becomes wrapped up in Hooten’s search for the prophetic long-lost Sibylline Book. As with the series first adventure, “Rome” is another B-movie adventure (although this time more of a knock-off of National Treasure or The DaVinci Code than Romancing the Stone). Finding the book will mean defacing the Sistine Chapel, fighting the Italian Mob, and very little wedding planning or working on the job Alex was sent to Rome to accomplish. Still, as with the first episode of the series, there is some fun to be had.
