“Flee tiny humans, flee from the vengeance of the Avengers! Their capacity for destruction is unparalleled. None share escape their wrath!”

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - Stayin' Alive / Evolution Rock TV review

The buffoonish Peter Quill (Will Friedle) and the pals have their first run in with Earth’s mightiest heroes when the Guardians of the Galaxy discover that a group calling themselves the Avengers is in possession of Thanos‘ asteroid. Not willing to leave such dangerous technology on Earth, the Guardians liberate it from the Avengers leading to a big throwdown between two teams until eventually they realize they are all on the same side and must work together against the High Evolutionary (Nolan North) who threatens the Earth by tampering with the Avengers death ray satellite (something Drax is much in favor of, as is the idea of a group of vengeful heroes) and kidnaps Rocket (Trevor Devall), Groot, and Carol Danvers (Grey DeLisle).

Iron Fist - Snow Gives Way / Shadowhawk Takes Flight TV review

There are some definite similarities to the first two episodes of Netflix’s new series Iron Fist and the first couple of episodes of FX’s Legion. Sadly, Iron Fist isn’t as stylized or as intriguing as the other property. Even several episodes in, while there might be grave doubts to who David (Dan Stevens) is, and whether or not he’s sane, there are no such complexities when it comes to Danny Rand (Finn Jones). The first two episodes drag out Danny’s return to New York and his re-connection to a pair of childhood friends who take the odd homeless man as either a mentally-deranged fool or con artist. Hoping to reclaim a part of his life before the plane crash which marooned him in the Himalayas fifteen years ago, Danny struggles and is eventually institutionalized by the very friends he returned to find.

The Flash - Into the Speed Force TV review

“Into the Speed Force” feels like one of those episodes we should learn something from… but I’m not sure exactly what that’s supposed to be. While the episode works well enough on its own I’m also a disheartened by the show’s stubbornness to continue to run from Barry (Grant Gustin) as a hopeful hero and continue down a more lonely path. Like him or not, since getting his speed Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) has been able to embody the exuberance Barry used to enjoy as the Flash (before he became a dick to everyone he loves). The conclusion of the episode seems to be to put Barry on the path to being a better speedster, but the show might be better served if it concentrated on making him a better man.

Supergirl - Homecoming television review

Everyone at the DEO and Casa de Danvers is happy with the return of Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain), rescued after being held for years by Camdus. Everyone that is except for Mon-El (Chris Wood) who not only questions the doctor’s story but also raises the possibility that Jeremiah might have been sent in by Cadmus as a mole. Souring the honeymoon period with Kara (Melissa Benoist), and drawing the ire of Alex (Chyler Leigh), Mon-El’s suspicions begin to divide the team and provide the perfect distraction to allow Jeremiah to perform his real mission.

The Blacklist: Redemption - Leland Bray TV review

The first episode of the new spin-of throws Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) together with the woman he believes to be his mother Susan Hargrave (Famke Janssen). Tom has several reasons for accepting the job at the covert mercenary organization, including attempting to learn more about himself while keeping his true identity secret. A meeting with the biological father (Terry O’Quinn) who recently faked his own death, along with the warnings from Reddington (James Spader), force Tom to keep quiet about his true identity while suspecting that his mother is up to something.
