3 Razors

Star Wars #1

A new Star Wars comic begins here. Set some time after the events of The Return of the Jedi, in the early days of the New Republic, Star Wars #1 opens with a squad of X-Wings led by Luke Skywalker hunting down pirates who have been harassing ships in nearby sectors. On finding them, the X-Wing pilots are shocked to discover the group has a Star Destroyer forcing a hasty retreat. However, one of Luke’s squad instead heads to the planet to get a look at the mercenary shot down in the battle (who had previously shot down one of the X-Wings), and Luke follows.

Let’s get this out of the way first, Demolition Man is a somewhat fun, if incredibly stupid, movie. Set in a dystopian future of a seemingly innocuous utopia (but with its own troubles bubbling under the surface), the film gives us super-cop John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) and psychopath Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) both being released from cryogenic prison where their battles in the late 90s left them (thanks to Phoenix framing Spartan in a way so obvious it could only be missed by 90s rule of law).

Secret Six #3

The third issue of the series pretty much follows the same pattern we’ve seen over the course of the first couple of issues with the primary focus being on Jon Kent (feeling out of place), Gossamer (feeling conflicted), and Dreamer (feeling murderous and having her motivations and actions questioned), although we do get more of Deadshot and Catman here (albeit out of costume for the most part as the entire group goes undercover at a club looking for a new lead to the missing Amanda Waller. It feels very much like a middle issue of a larger issue treading water until the big reveal.

Final Destination 2

  • Title: Final Destination 2
  • IMDb: link

An approvement over the original, Final Destination 2 brings back the same concept with a group of people avoiding death due to the premonition of one character. However, they are continued to be stalked by Death (who never takes physical form but attacks by putting complex sequences of events in motion) throughout the film one by one. As with the original, characters attempt to read the signs as to who is next on the hitlist and avoid their spot in line.
