Leverage: Redemption – The Fractured Job

Eliot (Christian Kane) returns home… again. For those who don’t remember, one of earliest episodes of Leverage focused on Eliot, with his Leverage pals in tow, returning to Kentucky to help out his high school sweetheart. 14 years later, Leverage: Redemption sends Eliot back home to Oklahoma (not Kentucky) and a small town (rather than a ranch or farm) in attempts to make up with his estranged father. While in town, he uncovers a fracking conspiracy and cover-up that brings in the rest of the team to save the small town.

007 #5

In the penultimate issue of the arc we see drastic actions by Bond, including his apparent resignation from MI6. Or do we? 007 #5 offers the twist you’ve been waiting for explaining both Bond’s endgame with Nassar and his role with helping Myrmidon (or not so much helping, but delivering them into the clutches of the authorities).

Scarecrow and Mrs. King – Magic Bus

  • Title: Scarecrow and Mrs. King – Magic Bus
  • IMDb: link

Throwback Thursday takes us to 80s Washington, D.C. and the unusual partnership between a housewife and a spy. The more technical aspects of “Magic Bus” haven’t aged all that gracefully (even for the time, the episode is pretty goofy). The storyline involves a new prototype disguised as a RV that gets stolen from Amanda‘s (Kate Jackson) driveway by a group of survivalists blackmailing the government to release imprisoned members of their organization. Not exactly Bond-level tech here, even for the 80s, the RV feels even more quaint in 2022.

Mary Jane & Black Cat #1

I’ll admit to being a bit lost at the opening of Mary Jane & Black Cat #1 where apparently Ben Reilly is now a villain again and going by a new name (meaning Marvel has somehow managed to screw up the one thing needed from the character – swinging through New York as the Scarlet Spider – yet again. Goddamn Marvel, it’s not that hard!). Oh, and Mary Jane also has super-powers now?

Willow – The Whispers of Nockmaar / Wildwood

  • Title: Willow – The Whispers of Nockmaar / Wildwood
  • IMDb: link / link

“The Whispers of Nockmaar” give us the characters stuck in a haunted castle which they escape only to be taken prisoner by the not-at-all-scary Bone Reavers in “Wildwood.” Over the two episode’s Elora (Ellie Bamber) confidence and magical abilities will continue to improve and Kit (Ruby Cruz) will, with excruciating slowness, begin to evolve into someone remotely likable and not a the character we’re rooting to see killed off in the next skirmish. We see the darkness from Prince Graydon (Tony Revolori) past leading to some concerns from Elora. Either the guy is a possession magnet for evil or there’s something seriously wrong with him. We’ll also meet another group who Thraxus (Amar Chadha-Patel) double-crossed, and Jade (Erin Kellyman) will make a discovery that will change her view of the world.
