Only Murders in the Building – White Room

  • Title: Only Murders in the Building – White Room

“White Room” takes its name from the multiple panic-induced breaks from reality Charles (Steve Martin) suffers while trying to get the patter song down for the play and deal with the realization he may have made a mistake in asking Joy (Andrea Martin) to move in with him. In each episode, Charles blacks out finding himself in a peaceful white room only to return to his consciousness to the horror (or, in the final example, delight) of what he’s done during his blackout. Although we don’t see exactly what Charles did during each of his episodes, the disgust of Oliver (Martin Short) and the others is certainly suggestive. The end of the episode’s realization that Joy the trio’s new prime suspect in Ben‘s (Paul Rudd) murder isn’t likely to calm him.

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #2

The anthology series continues as Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #2 delivers three more tales of Harley Quinn in black, white, and red. In “Origin Stories for Dummies” Harley Quinn kidnaps Zatanna demanding a new origin story feeling that she isn’t being taken seriously. Despite the objections of both Z and Ivy, Zatanna does what she’s asked multiple times (the Aquaman origin being my favorite) but in the end Harley finally realizes her origin is the best of all.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Charades

  • Title: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Charades
  • wiki: link

One of the oddest and most unexpected aspects of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the running theme of wacky Freaky Friday-style romcoms centered around Spock‘s (Ethan Peck) love life. And both times it has produced some wonderful television. As in “Spock Amok,” events swirl around engagement to T’Pring (Gia Sandhu) and a Vulcan ceremony to cement their engagement. Also at play here is Nurse Chapel‘s (Jess Bush) feelings for the Enterprise’s science officer who has been noticeably avoiding her of late, unsure how to deal with the feelings he harbors for her. When a shuttle accident leaves Spock injured, and then healed improperly by aliens, a now fully human Spock needs to master his human emotions and prepare for the arrival of T’Pring… and her parents.

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #1

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #1 kicks off a new black, white, and red anthology series for Harley Quinn. The first issue is a nice mix focusing on the humor, tragedy, and wackiness of the character. In “The Man of Steal!” Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy travel up north to break into the Fortress of Solitude only to be surprised by first a Bat-Butler, leading to some aspersions being tossed at the Man of Steel, and then running into the Justice League’s game night
