After one of the show’s must gut-wrenching episodes that saw the apparent death of Shaw (Sarah Shahi), Person of Interest continues to deliver the unexpected with “Control-Alt-Delete.” Rather than offer us an episode from the grieving Reese (Jim Caviezel), Finch (Michael Emerson), Root (Amy Acker), and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) dealing with the loss, the latest episode is entirely from Control‘s (Camryn Manheim) point-of-view giving us a look into the the Government’s use of, and frustration with, the intelligence provided by Samaritan. We also get the return of the computer system’s young avatar and glimpses of Samaritan’s plans to gain more power.

Eve (Rebecca Romijn) and the Librarians-in-Training head to a high school science fair in Chicago to investigate students who have turned to witchcraft to get the upper hand over their competition. Even Jenkins (John Larroquette) gets in on the fun leaving the Annex to help Ezekiel (John Kim) and Cassandra (Lindy Booth) look for the coven he believes must be responsible for the magic rewriting the rules of physics inside the auditorium. However, it isn’t a coven but an old enemy responsible for all the magical mischief.

BoyhoodShot over the course of 12 years, Boyhood is one of the most ambitious projects any filmmaker has attempted to tackle. It’s also easily one of the best films of the year.

Starting the project at age 5 we witness Ellar Coltrane grow-up as Mason over the filming of Richard Linklater‘s latest film which began production in 2002 and finally arrived in theaters in 2014. Over its 165-minute running time Mason’s scripted tale delves into his relationships with both his divorced parents (Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke), the complexities of modern-day extended families, and the journey of Mason from grade school to college.

Begun without a finished script, but with an established beginning and ending, Linklater adapted the story by the changes he saw in his cast over the years. Arquette and Hawke carry much of the early scenes of the movie while Coltrane takes over a larger part of the story as he grows as an actor.
