Batman: Strange Days

Returning to the DC Animated Universe he helped build, Bruce Timm returns for a special DC Nation Short honoring Batman’s 75th Anniversary. Written, designed, and storyboarded by Bruce Timm, the animated short allowed Timm to takes his original slender and retro designs and craft a period piece set in Batman‘s early days. The result is pretty damn terrific black-and-white short. Although I usually prefer a little more color in my Dark Knight, my only real complaint is that it is far too short.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #1

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #1Magic has been restored to the world and Buffy and her Scoobies are working with vampires to put an end to the last of the zompires, but that’s only the beginning of the first issue kicking off a brand-new season which will reunite Buffy with her long-lost mentor and showcase that the rules have very much changed (again).

The death of the army of zompires ends the truce between Buffy and Vicki’s vampires who it turns out aren’t so much afraid of sunlight any more and have the ability turn into mists and giant bats (although Spike is still limited to wise-cracking and looking cool in his black trench coat with a heroic backstory – as Andrew points out).

Thankfully Buffy and her team are saved with the timely arrival of Faith, Kennedy‘s soldiers, and the adolescent Giles who shows up casting magic in Latin to everyone’s surprise. Giles and Faith aren’t the only familiar faces to make an appearance as Xander appears to be haunted by the ghost of Anya. (Ghost? Hallucination? Or possibly The First?)

Pretty Little Liars - A is for Answers

After years of wondering, the Liars finally sit down with Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and learn exactly what happened on the night everyone believes she died. Although the episode doesn’t reveal the identity of A (after all, the show is returning with a new season beginning this summer), “A is for Answers” certainly delivers its share of revelations including the fact that despite what Spencer (Troian Bellisario), her parents, and the police believe, she wasn’t involved in either the attack on Alison (Sasha Pieterse) or the young girl found in her shallow grave.

With Shaw (Sarah Shahi) cornered by Vigilance, and an overconfident Root separated from the number whose past is linked to her own as a hacker and hired gun, it falls on Reese (Jim Caviezel) to step-in and save the day.
