Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #108

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #108 television reviewDonatello, Leonardo, Raphael, Jennika, and Michelangelo head into the sewers in search of the missing children but don’t find what they expect. The group discover Lita and the others safe.

The monstrous Slithery wasn’t hurting the children but perhaps keeping them to ward off the loneliness the mutated creature was feeling at being boxed in and unable to escape Mutant Town. Even the creature’s victims plead for the Turtles not to hurt the Slithery making things a it more difficult for our heroes to help the monster out of the sewers without doing any harm. The appearance of the Slithery also foreshadows other unknowns deep within Mutant Town. What other mutations have been hidden from the outside world?

Locke & Key - The Black Door television review

As Echo (Laysla De Oliveira) moves forward with plan B in getting her hands on more keys by flirting with the self-destructive Tyler (Connor Jessup), who purposefully sabotages his relationship with Jackie (Genevieve Kang), Kinsey (Emilia Jones) plays on the Savini Squad’s need for a new filming location to lead them down into the dangerous sea caves in order to satiate her own curiosity about what secrets they are hiding from her father’s past. While putting the lives of all her new friends in danger, getting more than a little closer to one of the group, and pissing off her boyfriend, Kinsey does manage to find a hidden door deep within the caves promising secrets she is desperate to get her hands on. Obviously the mysterious door will have an important role to play later in the series.

Warrior Nun - Isaiah 30:20-21 television review

Ava (Alba Baptista) and Shotgun Mary (Toya Turner) become unlikely road companions after the encounter with a demon as an injured Mary leads Ava to a nearby village where the Order help some years before. There’s Odd Couple some humor in the opening sequence as Mary tracks Ava down, gently pushes her towards a nearby town, and becomes her travelling companion. The pair’s time together allows Mary to offer Ava the soft pitch to joining the order while also giving the younger woman a sense of her importance and how her control over the Halo gives her leverage and power. Disconnected from the various other characters and subplots, “Matthew 7:13” offers a nice break while also allowing Ava to see the positive effects of those who have been helped by the warrior nuns.

The Umbrella Academy - Valhalla television review

For the first time in the show’s Second Season the entire Umbrella Academy is gathered under the same roof. It doesn’t last very long as Luther (Tom Hopper) is the first to bail on the disagreements on how the team can prevent the end of the world in six days time. Following his brother out, Diego (David Castañeda) and Luther receive an invitation from Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) to all of his “pursuers” summoning them for a light supper (and laying the foundation for the next episode). During the opening sequence, we also get to see a little more of Pogo‘s past and how his path original coincided with that of Hargreeves.

Lucifer - Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer! television review

Faux-Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) tenure turns out to be shorter than expected as several characters realize that the Devil’s twin brother Michael is attempting to pass himself off as Lucifer Morningstar. Michael admits the truth to Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) in hopes of enlisting her help to tear apart Lucifer’s life on Earth and force the Devil to return (in order to prove something to himself and his family). Before discovering the truth on her own, Chloe (Lauren German) and Michael will work on a case together solving a murder of a would-be astronaut at a Mars training facility. While he may look like Lucifer, Michael can’t quite get his brother’s mirth right leading to an odd series of interrogation scenes with Lucifer being the more responsible partner and Chloe lashing out at the suspects.
