G.I. JOE #9

While checking in on other ongoing threads such as Destro doing research into the Decepticons behind the back of Cobra Commander and Clutch hiding Hound in the Joe’s compound, the majority of G.I. JOE #9 focuses on the adventures of the Baroness and Cover Girl in Paris. After coming to an understanding, the pair are rudely interrupted by Raptor and then Major Bludd. Although holding their own for a time, the pair eventually become the prisoners of Bludd who looks to gets some revenge on Baroness by attempting to pit her and Cover Girl against each other leading to a shocking final panel (which no doubt is part of a larger plan of Cover Girl to help lead to their escape).

Ballard – Haystacks

  • Title: Ballard – Haystacks
  • IMDb: link

While continuing to piss-off others within the department, Ballard (Maggie Q) makes headway on the case of the dead cleaning woman (stepping on the toes of the detective not paying attention to the case) which she closes by tracking down the homeless man who shot her earning a small victory and uncovering evidence of a police cover-up. In terms of the other linked cases, the leading suspect in the death of the councilman’s (Noah Bean) sister is ruled out for his airtight alibi for the second murder. However, Ballard poking around that case does lead her to receive a visit from Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) who offers a few words of advice and teases more potential help further down the line. It’s an incrimental step to solving the larger mysteries at play, but a solid step nonetheless.

The Brave and the Bold #67

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to a Batman team-up from the classic anthology The Brave and the Bold. Originally launched to highlight heroes and swashbucklers from the past, eventually the comic morphed into a Batman team-up book. The Brave and the Bold #67 features Batman and the Flash working together to take down a gang of thieves enhanced by sneakers allowing them to move too fast for the Dark Knight Detective to catch them. Unaware that the Flash is suffering from a condition where the use of his super-speed is slowly killing him, Batman enlists the help of Central City’s hero to catch the thieves.

Phineas and Ferb – Deconstructing Doof

  • Title: Phineas and Ferb – Deconstructing Doof
  • wiki: link

Starting out by introducing that both Candace (Ashley Tisdale) and Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) are patients of the same psychologist,, “Deconstructing Doof” has some fun with the premise as the doctor comes to see a pattern in both patients’ delusions and uncovers a connection to a truth that he will share with the world. Sadly for Dr. Mosley Shamai (Brendan Hunt), his attempts at proving the truth fair no better than that of Candice as Doofenshmirtz’s latest invention, with the help of Perry, erases all proof just seconds before his big presentation. Highlights of the episode include the patients’ duet of “No One Understands Me,” Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb‘s (David Errigo Jr.) giant disco blimp (which goes unnoticed by hundreds of people), and the good doctor’s nervous breakdown on stage (which oddly comforts Candice).

Supergirl #3

I finally figured out what this comic reminds me of. With it’s small town setting and problems that can ultimately be solved with kind words and a hug, this run of Supergirl reminds me of Archie comics (in a good way). Rebranded “Phonygirl,” Supergirl continues to try and win back the inhabitants of Midvale and free them from machinations of the Kandorian Lesla-Lar whose obsession with Kara has led her to try and take over her life. Unable to keep playing hero, Lesla-Lar then turns to villain.
