Charlie's Angels - Bullseye television review

Today’s Throwback Thursday post takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police detectives turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. Murder on the firing range sends the Angels undercover in Women’s Army Corps. While Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) and Jill (Farrah Fawcett) show up as new recruits, Sabrina (Kate Jackson) takes on the role of a nurse. Even if the episode hadn’t started with revealing the killer to the audience, the sadistic Drill Sgt. Billings (L.Q. Jones) is the obvious suspect. He doesn’t take to kindly to people snooping through his office as Kelly learns when he sabotages her gas mask during a training exercise. Later, Jill learns the same lesson when she is taken prisoner by the soldier as his ticket off the base.

Action Comics #1011

Action Comics #1011 comic review“Leviathan Rising” continues as Superman and Lois investigate, searching for the truth about the attack on all the DCU spy agencies that has left Spyral, the DEO, Checkmate, and others all crippled. With a source offering them intelligence on Spyral, and confirmation from Manhunter, the two have enough for their front page story about what has happened. However, the real question is what is going to happen next?

The best action from Action Comics #1011 comes from its opening pages as task force from remaining federal agencies target Kate Spencer who they believe to be connected to the Leviathan attacks. Despite their best attempts to take her into custody, Manhunter escapes.

Batman - Death In Slow Motion / The Riddler's False Notion TV review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. The Riddler‘s (Frank Gorshin) motives for his latest crimes are even more obscure than usual as the villain focuses on a silent-film motif throughout the two episodes, capturing his various small victories over Batman on film. Along with variations on his costume, the character will also don a variety of roles for his time in front of the camera including both a cowboy an Charlie Chaplin. Sherry Jackson guest-stars as aspiring actress added to the Riddler’s crew who proves to be the weak link (thanks to another of Batman’s gadgets that is able to chemically determine the truth of the woman’s statements).

Whiskey Cavalier - Czech Mate television review

The First Season finale of Whiskey Cavalier continues the team’s search for Ollerman (Dylan Walsh), at least until he shows up at their safe house and blackmails them into performing a mission for him by infecting Ray (Josh Hopkins). What was apparently set to be the series finale, ABC cancelled the series, may not be as the network is in discussions about the possibility to bring Whiskey Cavalier for a second season. This is good news for fans of the show as “Czech Mate” may wrap-up a few loose ends, such as revealing Standish’s (Tyler James Williams) girlfriend to be a killer working for Ollerman, revealing Tina (Marika Dominczyk) to be Emma’s (Ophelia Lovibond) killer, and finally getting Will (Scott Foley) to forgive Ray’s indiscretions, the show leaves plenty still unresolved with Ollerman still on the run and the fate of Standish very much uncertain. The show has certainly made some strides over the season, and although I wouldn’t be surprised to see ABC ultimately decide to cancel it, I’m also curious to see what the writers might come up with for next season.
