Action Comics #1003

Action Comics #1003 comic reviewIt isn’t every comic you get to see Batman mug a woman in an alley and joke around with Superman about it. Without delving more into why she needs it, Action Comics #1003 features Robinson Goode acquiring some black market Kryptonite. Whether or not she meant to carry the unshielded meteorite fragment into the Daily Planet, it certainly has an effect on Clark Kent.

Which, of course, is how we come to find Batman mugging the woman and relieving her of the rare and expensive trinket. It also leads Goode back to her supplier who gets taken down by the ominous Red Cloud. Although the Man of Steel arrives too late to see it in action, he may have just found his first clue as to what is happening in the Metropolis underworld.

Lucifer – The Complete Third Season

Lucifer - The Complete Third Season Blu-ray reviewLucifer‘s Third Season was the show’s longest of its three-year run on FOX (including a couple of episodes originally intended for Season Two). Despite the network cancelling the show, it turns out Season Three won’t be the end of Lucifer which will be showing up on Netflix in 2019 with 10 new episodes that will allow the characters to deal with the fallout of this season finale’s cliffhanger ending.

The major addition to the cast in Season Three was the introduction of Tom Welling as both a police captain (and a potential love interest for Chloe) and an immortal unable to die who inserts himself into the lives of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) in order to achieve his own agenda (and screw with Lucifer). We also got the return of Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) struggling to deal with her time in Hell (when her body was possessed by Lucifer’s mother) and the knowledge of where she is headed if she doesn’t change her ways and make some major changes to her life.

A Million Little Things - Pilot television review

I have one major complaint about the “Pilot” episode of A Million Little Things, something which I believe my fester and eventually kill my interest in the show, but there is actually quite a bit of good to talk about first. The set-up involves two friends in a small circle both attempting suicide on the same day. One dies (Ron Livingston), and the other (Romany Malco), after learning of his friend’s death, chooses to remain in the land of the living. During the lead up to the funeral, we introduced to the group which includes the departed man’s wife Sopie (Lizzy Greene), breast cancer survivor and womanizer Gary (James Roday), the depressed Rome (Malco), and the unemployed former rocker turn music teacher Eddie (David Giuntoli). Rounding out the cast are the men’s signigant others (Christina Marie Moses, Grace Park, and Allison Miller).

The Wild Storm #17

The Wild Storm #17 comic reviewJohn Lynch‘s trip down memory lane takes him to the most dangerous member of the Thunderbook project, although coming face-to-face with Rainmaker is nothing like what Lynch expects. Of all the dangerous human/alien hybrids Lynch has encountered, Rainmaker (originally the most dangerous) seems the most at peace with himself and the alien parasite that has driven the rest of Thunderbook crazy. As with the other members of Thunderbook, Lynch discovers Rainmaker has also passed on his genes implying another Gen13 character is part of the new Wild Storm universe.

Justice League Unlimited - This Little Piggy television review

Our Throwback Tuesday post takes us back to the animated adventures of Justice League. “This Little Piggy” is a hell of a goofy episode that features Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg) being turned into a pig by the sorceress Circe (Rachel York). Needing all the help he can get, Batman (Kevin Conroy) turns to his old friend Zatanna (Jennifer Hale) to try and break the spell. When that fails, he calls on a few C-list Justice Leaguers to hunt down both the Wonder Pig (who goes missing) and Circe. All of the bizarre antics later, including Wonder Pig wandering into a slaughter house, conclude with Batman paying Circe’s price for Diana’s freedom in a way that brings both Circe and Zatanna to tears.
