SEAL Team - Credible Threat television review

Bravo Team is assigned to protect a delegation of government officials on a publicity tour to give the illusion to the folks back home that the area is more stabilized than it actually is. The detail is complicated as the members insist on taking unnecessary risks, making it more and more difficult for the SEALs to perform their duties, and the fact that suspected terrorist Salim Hakan (Ismail Bashey) has been added to the group without notifying Bravo beforehand. Bravo and the United States officials all manage to get out alive, although Hakan is killed by a sniper shooting at the group. At first the assumption is that he was an unfortunate casualty caught in the crossfire, although Mandy Ellis (Jessica Paré) raises the possibility that perhaps the sniper got exactly who he was shooting at and eliminated someone the CIA had targeted before Hakan could reveal what he knew.

Astro City #51

Astro City #51 comic reviewAstro City #51 continues the theme started in Astro City #50 as we hear from more survivors of those touched by the supernatural telling their stories the in support group led by Michael Tenicek. We get the terrifying tale of Rose Wilkerson who was saved from a giant spider-creature by the Honor Guard (unfortunately her son was not so lucky). It’s a heart-wrenching opening, but from there the comic takes an even darker turn as the grieving mother turns her anger on Michael who (because his wife was taken out of existence) she thinks is a fraud. How to you prove something that, according to the current timeline, never existed?

Along with Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Superman (George Newbern), both previously introduced on their own series, the team includes the Flash (Michael Rosenbaum), who was introduced in “Speed Demons,” and four new heroes in Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg), Hawkgirl (Maria Canals-Barrera), the Martian Manhunter (Carl Lumbly), and Green Lantern John Stewart (Phil LaMarr). While we’ll get to know more of each of them over the course of the series, we get concise introductions here that work well in framing each character and their spot on the team.
