Supergirl - Distant Son television review

When Mon-El‘s (Chris Wood) parents (Teri Hatcher, Kevin Sorbo) put an outrageous bounty out on Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) aliens begin attacking the Kryptonian, forcing Kara to reluctantly stand down. Hoping to convince them that Mon-El is better off on Earth, Kara meets with Rhea (Hatcher) and only survives a sneak attack by the queen thanks to Mon-El stepping in and agreeing to return to Daxam. The story’s main purpose is to show how much Mon-El has grown as a character, wiling to sacrifice himself and his own happiness for the woman he loves (who, despite orders not to engage the aliens, isn’t going to let Mon-El leave without a fight).

While the true motivation for the killing alludes them, eventually the pair will discover the truth about the pirate gold, and their murder victim.

Once Upon a Time - Page 23 television review

While Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) does some soul searching after Emma (Jennifer Morrison) discovers the pirate’s secret, the main focus of “Page 23” is the end of the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) storyline. Retrieving the Shears of Destiny, the Evil Queen uses them to separate herself permanently from Regina allowing the pair to duke it out one last time. While I’m not surprised that neither woman ends up dead, I always expected Regina to reabsorb the Queen back into herself. I’ll give the writers credit for finding a third option that allows each character to get their own happy ending and allows Regina to perform one of the most heroic acts seen on the show. Points for tying the whole thing back to the mysterious “extra” page in the storybook as well.

Will Eisner’s The Spirit: The Corpse-Makers #2 comic reviewAlthough the Spirit tracks down two of the three bank robbers in Will Eisner’s The Spirit: The Corpse-Makers it only leads to the beginning of a larger mystery involving mysterious disappearances of those who will not be missed.

Our intrepid hero isn’t the only one on the case. Private investigator Lisa Marlowe also stumbles onto the unseemly business while on a job trailing John Bartlett whose wife believes he is having an affair. The good news is there’s no mistress. The bad news is Mr. Bartlett is wrapped up in something far more dangerous.

Arrow - Kapiushon television review

“Kapiushon” proves to be on of Arrow‘s most brutal episodes. Captured by Prometheus (Josh Segarra), Oliver (Stephen Amell) spends nearly the entire episode being physically and psychologically tortured by a psychopath with an axe to grind. Spending equal times in flashbacks, the episode also show us some of Oliver’s darkest days in Russia with the Bratva and their war against Konstantin Kovar (Dolph Lundgren). While the logic of Chase’s plan is circumspect (does he really want to bring out Oliver’s murderous side, piss him off, and allow a more murderous Green Arrow come after him?), he does eventually score a win over Oliver by forcing him to admit a hard truth about himself.
