The Flash - Grodd Lives

Although the search for the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) and the missing Eddie (Rick Cosnett) remain a priority for Barry (Grant Gustin) and his team, things get a bit more complicated when a new player emerges. Teased earlier in the season, Grodd gets a proper introduction in “Grodd Lives” as the capture of a mind-controlled gold robber, who turns out to be General Wade Eiling (Clancy Brown), leads Barry, Joe (Jesse L. Martin), and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) into the sewers underneath Central City where they find the gorilla who was Eiling’s old experiment augmented by the Accelerator explosion and is now able to bend others to his will.

Once Upon a Time - Mother

After teasing us with Emma (Jennifer Morrison) going dark, Lily (Agnes Bruckner) and Maleficent‘s (Kristin Bauer van Straten) revenge against the Charmings, and Regina (Lana Parrilla) taking back her life from Zelena (Rebecca Mader), Once Upon a Time switches things up in this tale of mothers and daughters that tempts Regina into returning to the dark path of her past as she outsmarts Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) in finding an alternative source for the Author‘s (Patrick Fischler) ink.

Hawaii Five-0 - Mo'o 'olelo Pu

I do enjoy Kono (Grace Park) episodes. While “Mo’o ‘olelo Pu” does offer a case of the week involving a recently paroled meth maker getting back into the business which sent him to prison the main focus of the latest episode is Kono getting lost at sea while attempting to sail around the Hawaiian islands before her wedding day. Along with Kono stuggling to survive her ordeal at sea the episode also offers several flashbacks to her childhood, her relationship with her mother (Catherine Haena Kim), and Kono’s love of the ocean. It’s an unusual episode for the series but one that gives us greater insight to a character not named McGarrett (a definite rarity) and offers the chance for Park to shine.

Convergence: Shazam! #1

Convergence: Shazam! #1Although not as memorable as Grant Morrison‘s recent The Multiversity: Thunderworld Adventures #1, also focused on giving fans a taste of classic Captain Marvel storytelling, writer Jeff Parker and artist Evan Shaner certainly deliver one of the better Convergence tie-in stories with Convergence: Shazam! #1.

In terms of storytelling, layout, and style the issue feels like a throwback to an old Captain Marvel adventure giving us Billy Batson and his world trapped on the Convergence world with appearances by several supporting characters (including Tawky Tawny) and villains (Dr. Sivana, Ibac, and Mr. Atom).

Although the writing and basic set-up of so many Convergence issues has, more often than not, led to disappointment, Convergence: Shazam! #1 is certainly on of DC’s event’s stronger issues as the return of the magic lighning comes none to soon to save Billy, Mary, and Freddy Freeman from a group of the Marvel Family‘s classic foes. Worth a look.

Elementary - The Best Way Out Is Always Through

While working with Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) to investigate the murder of a judge, which may or may not have been committed by a recent prison escapee, Marcus Bell (Jon Michael Hill) learns a disturbing truth about his girlfriend (Afton Williamson) who has hidden from him the fact that she works for Internal Affairs. Deducing the escapee is nothing more than a patsy, and finding her discarded body still on prison grounds, leads Holmes to the real reason behind multiple murders. Marcus’ love life, on the other hand, will take longer to figure out.
