Smallville - Kinetic

Superman Saturday takes us back to Smallville, Kansas, and the time Clark Kent (Tom Welling) fought criminals who could walk through walls. In terms of all parts of the episode being tied together and progressing both the individual episode and season-long arcs, “Kinetic” is one of the best designed episodes of the show’s First Season. We start with Kryptonite-tattooed goons (David Lovgren, Kavan Smith, and David Coles) stealing from Lex and injuring Chloe (Allison Mack) in the opening scene. With a damaging disc being included in the theft, Lex isn’t in any hurry to report details of what was taken to the police.

Delicious in Dungeon - Dumplings

Although it ends the season without any further action toward finding the Mad Mage or rescuing Falin (Lisa Reimold), the final two episodes of the First Season of Delicious in Dungeon provide plenty of stand-out moments. First, we get a proper backstory for Senshi (SungWon Cho) explaining his time in the tunnels and his reaction to the Griffin. Laios (Damien C. Haas) helps put him at ease with the latter with the help of the same monsters who cause the party a different kind of trouble. Senshi’s flashbacks take an incredibly dark turn, with old fears being dragged back into the light. Thankfully, Laios’ gamble pays off and allows his friend to find peace.

Spider-Man - The Alien Costume

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the 90s New York City and an animated Wall-Crawler. The three-parter introduces the alien symbiote (here found on the moon by astronauts in search of precious elements), gives us Spider-Man‘s (Christopher Daniel Barnes) run in the costume, and plays out one of the series’ long-running threads in the creation of Venom (Hank Azaria). The arc also gives us a pair of Spidey villains in the Rhino (Don Stark) and the Shocker (Jim Cummings), both working for the Kingpin (Roscoe Lee Brown) in retrieving the valuable moon rock which J. Jonah Jameson (Edward Asner) wrongly believes Spider-Man stole.
