Batman - The Curse Of Tut / The Pharaoh's In A Rut TV review

For Throwback Tuesday we take a look back at another episode of the classic 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin.The two-parter “The Curse Of Tut” and “The Pharaoh’s In A Rut” introduced audiences to a new villain specifically created from the show. While King Tut isn’t the only original villain created for the series, he is the most well-known (today he even exits as a LEGO Batman Minifigure). Victor Buono stars as the former professor of Egyptology who, thanks to a blow on the head, believes he is the reincarnation of King Tut and Gotham is his kingdom. The episodes feature some smoke and mirrors with Tut using a large statue to proclaim doom and gloom to come while kidnapping Bruce Wayne and holding him for ransom. Batman is able extricate himself out of not one but two separate kidnappings, survive the pebble torture, and reunite with Robin to take down Tut.

Justice League Action - Eezy Freezy TV review

“Eezy Freezy” is a bit of lighthearted fun featuring at team-up of Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Plastic Man out to capture Mr. Freeze (Peter Stormare). The short includes Plastic Man (Dana Snyder) taking on the shape of Santa’s sleigh (with Santa no less) as well as a makeshift stand-in for the Bat-Cycle’s front wheel after accidentally crashing into Batman. Not the most memorable of shorts, but fun nonetheless.

Batman #37 comic reviewI thoroughly enjoyed Batman #36 which focused on the relationships of Bruce Wayne and Catwoman, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and Batman and Superman. Somehow, this issue is even better. Bringing the foursome together for a night out at the Gotham Fair (on super-hero night no less) proves to be one of the most enjoyable comics I’ve read all year.

With the men and ladies both trading clothes, the humor is great as Lois and Selina get to know each other better and Bruce and Clark enjoy themselves (and compete) while Mr. Wayne gears up for his impending nuptials. Honestly, I’ve been very lukewarm to the idea of a Batman and Catwoman wedding, but this issue sells me on the idea (especially if we get more comics like this!).

Batman #36 comic reviewOkay, this is pretty good. Kicking off a new arc, writer Tom King and artist Clay Mann tackle the issue of Batman‘s impending wedding to Catwoman, and his friendship with Superman, from the perspective of both the Dark Knight Detective and the Man of Steel. While both are attempting to get to the bottom of their latest cases (which will end up linked by the end of the issue) each has to deal with the women in their lives asking why one hasn’t talked with the other about the wedding.

The two storylines run parallel, at times side-by-side as both men struggle to explain the other. In an issue where each tries to explain how fundamentally different they are, the creative team perfectly illustrates how just the opposite is true. Along the way they’ll also tackle issues like Catwoman’s trustworthiness and Superman’s super-secret identity.

Justice League Action - Skyjacked television review

“Skyjacked” is a fun Justice League Action short featuring Harley Quinn (Tara Strong) and Poison Ivy (Natasha Leggero) attempting to steal a Javelin from the Justice League which is complicated by the arrival of Batman (Kevin Conroy). Ever since Batman: The Animated Series the team-up of Harley and Ivy has provided some enjoyable moments on both TV and in comics, and “Skyjacked” continues that trend.
